Justin and I have just completed this 6-day stage race in Breckenridge, Colorado which covers 220 miles and over 40,000 feet of climbing, with the resulting descending being the best part! We competed in the 2-person open men team category and were able to win all six stages and the overall title. Although there were not a lot of men’s teams this year, it was a great opportunity for us to ride together and help each other with the inevitable up and downs throughout the race.
There were 447 starters who all suffered and enjoyed sunshine, sleet, climbs to over 12,500 ft elevation, moose sightings, and epic Colorado single track. If anyone is interested in doing this race in future years, we can provide lots of tips and it is certainly a fantastic way to spend a week! Justin and I had an overall time of almost 22 hours, which would have put us in 18th place in the pro/open men’s race which was won by Keegan Swenson.
The Stage 3 re-cap has a great picture of us in the orange leader’s jerseys with some beautiful mountains in the background.
The Stage 4 recap includes a few sentences about us as a team and our enjoyment of the race.
